Wonder Northwest with generous support from Jupiter Hotel and DJ Switch of the Dangerous Kids podcast is proud to present the Super Rad Dance Party!

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, or online here: http://wnwdance.brownpapertickets.com/

This dance is Video Game themed, and music will be provided by DJ Switch of Dangerous Kids.

Cosplayers of any and all fandoms are welcome and encouraged to attend in costume, but we ask that there be no body paint at the event. It’s just a pain to clean up.

No costume? No problem! This is a dance for every one. Just make sure you bring your dancing shoes.

This event is all-ages, though we ask that folks under 13 come with a parent or guardian. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

If you’re in Portland, please come join us for a fun night! If you’re from out of town, please help spread the word!

Wonder Northwest's IndieGoGo is live!

For the past two years, we have helped bring the community together by creating an event that celebrates all aspects of geek culture. Pirates hanging out and singing Karaoke with Batman is just one of the many awesome things you are likely to encounter at our event.

Now I’m reaching out to you, the community, to help Wonder Northwest grow. Our goal is to put on the best show possible. We have an incredibly diverse community of geeks, nerds, dorks, and everything in between here in Portland, and we strive to put on an affordable show with something for everyone.

With your support we will be able to bring you more of what you want at conventions. More showings, more swag, more room for panels and local artists, more guests… More fun!

We saved the best for last! At Everfree, our very own Manny had a chance to have a conversation with James Wootie Wootton, the director of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, about the art direction of the show, and reasons for its broad appeal! Thanks so much to Wootie, who took time out of his busy day to talk to us, and gave us permission to share this video with all of you!

We’re slowly but surely getting more footage from our panels up and online. So, here is Paul Guinen and Anina Bennet’s presentation on their stunning graphic novel, Boilerplate!

And of course, thanks again to our good friends at Galaxy Sailor Productions for providing video footage of our convention.

Good news!

We are not dead!  We are actually quite busy ramping up for next year’s show!  In the mean time, for those of you who were not able to attend, or were simply too busy having fun attending our panels, we have started uploading videos of panels and events that took place at Wonder Northwest this year.

The first in our series is from one of our most popular panels: Epidemiologic Methods for Investigating the Zombie Apocalypse, hosted by Dr. Sullivan. Check it out, and turn up your speakers, the audio is a little quiet. (Sorry!)

As some of you may know, Winston Churchill, Billy Galaxy’s beloved Italian Greyhound, broke his leg Friday night just before dealer set up.  Because Billy put so much of his own time and money into making Wonder Northwest great for you guys, he is now struggling to pay for this unexpected and unfortunate expense.
Our little guy is doing okay, and is just as energetic as ever, if not a bit sad that he has to stay cooped up in his kennel. He’s not allowed to walk unless necessary, so he has to be carried wherever he goes. If you’d like to donate to his medical bills, please click the link below. Every little bit helps, even a couple cents! Thanks again for all your support, and helping us make Wonder Northwest great!

And that’s a wrap!

The inaugural year of Wonder Northwest went off without a hitch. Thank you to all of those that attended and had a great time. The crowds just kept growing steadily over both days and all of the rooms, events, panels and activities were amazingly well attended.  Some of them were even standing room only!

A super huge shoutout to Manny McIvor, Sean Harrington, DJ AlphaMullet and Holly Reynolds. Without these folks going above and beyond the call of duty, this show probably would not have happened.  We also had a ton of help from so many volunteers, sponsors and all-around do-gooders that we are afraid to try and list them all out of fear of forgetting someone. You all know who you are and we love you.  Keep rocking!

And of course, thank you to all of our attendees for giving us a reason to exist!  Feel free to fire us an email with suggestions for what you would like to see for next year.  We want to make this show great for everyone, and represent all corners of the Portland Nerd Herd equally.

We hope to see everyone next year and keep and your eyes glued to the site for updates.

Podcasts podcasts podcasts!

It’s a whirlwind of media exposure here at Wonder Northwest HQ!  In the last week alone, we have been on The Rick Emerson Show, Dangerous Kids Podcast, and finished talking live on the air with Ham-Fisted radio about 45 minutes ago!  Willamette Week did an incredibly informational write up on the lolita fashion show  to help set folks straight on what exactly “Lolita Fashion” is.  Turns out the general public isn’t as nerdy as we are! Woops!

Also, a quick heads-up for you all, advance registration will be closing tomorrow at 3:00pm PST!  If you want to get your badge ahead of time, and get into the dealer’s hall early on both days, now is your last chance!  So hop to it!
